Cook Family in America: Grandmothers
Phineas Wolcott Cook’s great-grandmother, married to Daniel Cook I, was Elizabeth Pond, the fourth generation in the Pond family in America. Her great-grandfather Samuel Pond came with his brother Daniel Pond in 1630 in Winthrop’s fleet. He finally settled at Windsor, Hartford, Connecticut, and died there in 1654. His son Samuel moved south and west to Branford, Connecticut where that family stayed for three generations.
Elizabeth was born in Branford, New Haven, Connecticut in 1722. Her family moved a few miles west to Cheshire, which was taken from Wallingford, and in 1746 she married Daniel Cook I. She moved with him to Goshen where she died in 1796.
